Athai

Athai passed away on May 26,2013. A life shouldn’t go unrecorded on this blog so Im mentioning it. She may have been 96 or 97; no one is sure.

Now its been a while since then, the mind can erase the images of her last days when she was frail and weak and dependent.  And can remember her strong , smiling and welcoming. The coffee and food she showered on everyone, irrespective of who it was; whether they were her own blood or from her sister in law’s family. Actually it’s the latter side of the family that owes her a lot.

She lived a long life and spent it serving other people. She stayed with her husband/in laws for only a few years when she was treated very badly. But she wasn’t bitter or complaining about it at all.  Of course she complained a lot about the servants J But never about members of the family who took her for granted.

A funeral is for the living, not too much to grieve for the person who has passed over unless the life was cut too short.  And it is Appa who needs the comfort of people reaching out to him. He is very grateful and happy that Lalli Aunty called immediately. And Babu.
Please Im not belittling all the other people who called later. He is grateful to each person who came and saw him and talked and the other people who were too far away to visit and called on the phone. Its just that when people reach out immediately, it makes an impact right then.

Hopefully, his visa to Canada will come through and he can go there for a change and to be well looked after .
Goutham please post a pic of her since I dont have one right now

delhi trip.

hi all,
we had a good time on our trip. driver driven ac car, guides who drove us mad at each historical spot. they form a character unto themselves with their hinglish--- one in delhi was a history student, with sunglasses pushed up on his head, and tired of the rural folk from chennai, the one at agra was elderly and ok, the one at fathepur sikri spent the whole time talking about akbars 3 wives and 300 concubines, and passing snide remarks as a joke to ramesh. the best was the jaipur one who was polite ,sprangout at every stop to open the car door for me , much to rameshs irritation .

it was slice of history for all of us, at delhi the independent india politics with nehru, indira gandhi adn mahatma gandhi museums, and mughal history at agra and fatepur sikri.

delhi with its wide roads and gardens is bautiful and a match for any other place in the world, not that i have seen many !!!!!

Surprise!

Surprise visit today from Thilak and his family. Got to know he was in Ooty from Facebook of course, messaged him and they came home. Saral is an extremely friendly child and talks non stop. Like father maybe.:-)) With Ritha is her younger sister and her parents.

I  had 30 minutes notice of their visit. The maid hadnt come for 4 days  and the house looked too lived in.  Now I dont know under which bed things have been swept away.

It was a nice non stop meet.

In Adelaide

Our move to Adelaide is complete. We moved here on Sunday living in a serviced apartment. It was on Tuesday that our stuff came. We moved to our house yesterday making yesterday the first night we spent in our new house. I today picked up the car from the warehouse as well.

Advaith so far seems alright and does not seem to be missing his friends. More updates later. Darshini is worried about maintaining a bigger house.
