Athai

Athai passed away on May 26,2013. A life shouldn’t go unrecorded on this blog so Im mentioning it. She may have been 96 or 97; no one is sure.

Now its been a while since then, the mind can erase the images of her last days when she was frail and weak and dependent.  And can remember her strong , smiling and welcoming. The coffee and food she showered on everyone, irrespective of who it was; whether they were her own blood or from her sister in law’s family. Actually it’s the latter side of the family that owes her a lot.

She lived a long life and spent it serving other people. She stayed with her husband/in laws for only a few years when she was treated very badly. But she wasn’t bitter or complaining about it at all.  Of course she complained a lot about the servants J But never about members of the family who took her for granted.

A funeral is for the living, not too much to grieve for the person who has passed over unless the life was cut too short.  And it is Appa who needs the comfort of people reaching out to him. He is very grateful and happy that Lalli Aunty called immediately. And Babu.
Please Im not belittling all the other people who called later. He is grateful to each person who came and saw him and talked and the other people who were too far away to visit and called on the phone. Its just that when people reach out immediately, it makes an impact right then.

Hopefully, his visa to Canada will come through and he can go there for a change and to be well looked after .
Goutham please post a pic of her since I dont have one right now

I think about her many times. She knows that I love coffee in the morning. The first step in Coimbatore Sivananda Colony, Early morning will be greeted by Anni. She will bring the coffee to front hall calling me Lalitha take coffee. I go to the kitchen when she makes Dosai for me. Yes!!! Those are memorable Days. Dr.Annan needs a peaceful place to relax. I wish him good health and long life.
