some interesting pics - the age of innocence

Some years ago, on holiday here, Sindhu decided to design a saree for GG (who was just getting engaged/married). After much delibeartion, she decided to paint a plain saree and decorate it with sequins, beadwork.

work in progress.. you can see a typical teenager's room here

Proud designers with finished product.

This was also the time Haru was expecting her first year -result. So this is how she spent the remaining time, on the phone asking about results and then later, getting congratulations enough to rival a Padmashri awardee.

Looks great...
Is this block or hand painting?

Hand painted. And I was allowed to do only certain portions.. the not-so -delicate ones.So you can imagine the painstaking work. And later, they stitched on sequins etc too.

i never knew the saree looked so good...i wd have flicked it if i had known it before..i was too young to realise it i guess...i still remember that one design in that saree the round painting is a modification of kallu chitthi's red and blackcotton churidar...hmmm i regret not having flicked it...

The important Q is Is GG wearing it? or is at the back of her wardrobe?

cont..d We usually put away our most precious things and never get to wear them.
I have a pair of red slippers which I bought in Connaught Place, delhi...mmmm 7! years ago and I wear them about twice a year. They are so special.Uttara came, just put them on and went around in them, happily.
I learnt a lesson from her. Good stuff is meant to be used, often.
